This post is a bit belated, I know. Glossybox had a bit of a delay shipping out their boxes last month, so I didn’t receive mine until last week. But rest assured, it was most certainly worth the wait. I think a lot of people really laid into Glossybox about the whole thing, which isn’t cool. Yeah, you paid for something you didn’t get exactly on time. Shit happens. You’ll get your damn box. The impatience of some people astounds me, really.
One thing I love about Glossybox is the presentation. Everything looks so quality, so luxe. The January box was curated by Leandra Medine, otherwise known as the creator of The Man Repeller.
Anyway, like I said. This box was amazing. Seven wonderful items I couldn’t be more excited about.
No need to struggle to read all of that. Let’s take a closer look…
Sebastian Professional Potion 9
The ultimate versatile styling cream infused with nine botanical extracts to help restore lost moisture and rejuvenate the healthy look of your hair. Perfect for styling your wet or dry hair into multiple looks with flexible hold.
I haven’t tried this yet because I keep forgetting, but it sounds like exactly what I’ve been looking for. Can’t wait to try it out when I remember. Tomorrow. I will remember to try it out tomorrow.
Le Métier de Beauté Replenishing Daily Solution
This rich, emollient formula protects, conditions and hydrates while it nourishes, rejuvenates and detoxifies skin, restoring a healthy suppleness to your skin. Paraben-free.
I have yet to try this one as well. My skin is by no means dry. It’s quite the opposite, in fact, so you can see why I might hesitate when it comes to testing moisturizers out. However, I’m trying to hydrate my skin a lot now, hoping to reverse the whole oil-production thing. Will this help? I’ll keep y’all updated.
Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara
Three different high-volume fibers create audacious, false-lash effects. Lustrous color leaves eyes brighter, wider, more seductive than ever. Build bigger, bolder, more extreme lashes at the Estée Lauder counter today.
Mascara! I love a good mascara, and let me tell you, so does my cat. She enjoyed the hell out of the entire Glossybox, actually. I told you it was good. Anyway, mascara. I love Estée Lauder, so I was stoked to get a tube of this. I have used it… once. And it was fine, I just had two other mascaras to try out (Ulta had a sale, okay?) and so I’ve been busy experimenting. But as far as I can tell, this is a good mascara. And I’m really picky with mascara. I’m actually quite partial to Rimmel when it comes to lashes… but we’ll see what the future holds.
Fresh Umbrian Clay Mattifying Serum
Umbrian Clay, Fresh’s proprietary ingredient, has a uniquely high-mineral content that works to neutralize acidity, purifying and clarifying the complexion. This treatment formula tones and hydrates while controlling shine and minimizing the appearance of pores.
Why haven’t I tried this yet? This is obviously the best thing in the box for me. I tend to get shiny as hell and the size of my pores makes me weep nightly as I fall into turbulent cosmetic dreams. I will try this one tomorrow too, promise. Has anyone else tried it? Thoughts?
Narciso Rodriguez for Her
A fragrant harmony of musk, intimately refined with a floral facet developing gently and slowly, rounding out into the feminine warm tones of sun-kissed skin, dusted in soft, velvet-like sensuality.
I’m pretty picky with fragrances. I tend to jump between two: L’Occitane’s Thé Vert and Encanto Dreams by Salvatore Ferragamo. I didn’t really mind this fragrance, although it’s not really me. My boyfriend, however, stated that it was an “older secretarial/front-desk perfume”. Any other noses have opinions out there?
OPI Liquid Sand Nail Lacquer in “Can’t Let Go”
A unique matte purple shade with subtle accents of reflective shimmer. This long wearing liquid sand lacquer dries to a matte finish which means no top coat is necessary! Apply base coat and two coats of color for full opacity.
I love OPI. My favorite nail brand by far. I also love purple, and I’ve been dying to try out the Liquid Sand line. So yeah, you can imagine how thrilled I was to see this baby tucked away inside. Please don’t judge my chipping red nails in these pictures… I didn’t put the Liquid Sand on until later. I’m currently wearing it, and it is awesome. I love the matte finish and the tiny glints of sparkle. I’m just afraid of how it’ll be when I remove it… glittery texture polishes can be a real pain in the ass.
Tarte Glamazon Pure Performance 12-hour Lipstick in “Fierce”
Achieve vivid long-lasting color with a superb blend of emollient-rich butters (mango, avocado and shea) encapsulated in Tarte’s 12-hour power formula. Helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines leaving your lips with a perfect, plumped-up appearance.
This is probably my favorite item in the box… that I’ve tried. I’ve been meaning to buy a red lipstick for awhile now. A lot of my fellow bloggers look fantastic in them. And, as I’ve said, a lot of people look like clowns. I might be one of the latter.
I really like the lipstick itself, but I fear the color’s a bit too orangey-red for me. I think maybe a cooler toned red would work better with my skin tone. I definitely plan on purchasing this in a different color. It really is long-lasting, although this red is a bit bleedy… and as trashy as lipliners feel to me, they might help out here. Thoughts?
What a long-ass post. Sorry for rambling, but hopefully I shed some light on these products and maybe encouraged someone to try out Glossybox! It’s totally worth it… and I’m saying that after only my first box. Can’t wait to see what next month’s will bring! They aren’t paying me to say this. Honest.
Now I’m gonna eat some ice cream and go to bed. Bye.
