I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect nude lip color for awhile now. It’s been a tough ride. I’ve accumulated a bunch, but I feel like the journey isn’t quite over yet. For now, the one that’s working the best for me is also the one that’s the most affordable–Matte Lip Color in Nearly Nude by e.l.f. Which you can buy for $3 USD. Yeah, I was shocked too.
Tip: If you’re having trouble finding a good nude for your skin tone, try dabbing on some of your foundation or concealer and dotting it with lip gloss!
Not too much to say. It’s a box. Sorta.
This convenient jumbo sized lip pencil creates exact color application with twist up ease so you never have to sharpen. The pigment rich color glides on effortlessly and easily to provide long lasting matte color. The enriched Vitamin A, C & E formula moisturizes and hydrates lips for beautiful healthy looking lips.

Light pinkish-beige, which is perfect for me. Because I’m light. Also beige, and a lot pinkish. Being a matte lip color, it’s pretty drying. e.l.f. claims it’s moisturizing and hydrating, but I don’t really find that to be the case. Needless to say, I usually don’t wear this without a balm or a gloss, even though it looks fine without it. As for how long it lasts, I’d say a few hours tops if you’re not eating or drinking or kissing or doing whatever else.
Nearly Nude with a clear gloss.
Here it is with gloss in ambient lighting. Not naked, I’m wearing a tube dress. Swear. I’m not totally classless. I think.
And with a flash. And glasses. I ALWAYS wear glasses (because I’m blind as shit without them) but I rarely do for my blog posts, because, well, it’s easier to talk about makeup and skincare stuff without them in the way. Also showing off my new hair color! I’m so happy with it. I used an Ulta-exclusive demi-permanent color from Umberto Beverly Hills. I haven’t used a box color in YEARS, so I was a bit hesitant, but it worked out wonderfully. Here’s hoping it lasts for awhile!
e.l.f. Matte Lip Color is also available in Coral, Natural, Tea Rose, Praline, and Rich Red shades.
Pros: Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeap. A good match for my skin tone, good, smooth coverage.
Cons: I wish it was bigger, for easier and faster application. Also a bit drying.
Final Verdict: Definitely will buy again, even though I’m still on the lookout for others. Buy yours for $3 USD at eyeslipsface.com or pick some up at Target.
Right before posting this I opened this month’s Birchbox and got yet ANOTHER new nude lipstick by Model Co! So excited to try it. Rolling in nudes over here. Is anyone interested in a huge nude lip color comparison post? What’s YOUR favorite nude lip color?
