Another day, another mask. Sheet masks never get boring. Even if they don’t really have the effect they claim, they are always relaxing and rejuvenating (unless you have sensitive skin, then be careful). Plus, a lot of them have super cute packaging that wins me over. Such as every single mask by My Scheming, a Taiwanese brand. I splurged on a handful of these because they were cute. Whatever, okay?

First things first, I needed to zoom in on this part of the packaging for y’all. I said it was cute, but this girl is actually pretty creepy. Look at the puppy though! Awww.
The mask itself has a pearly backing covering one side of it. Remove that and adhere the previously covered side to your face. Simple. This mask is literally dripping with … bamboo charcoal volcano mud extract juice. You’ll have a lot left over, so make sure to massage it into your skin afterward!
The My Scheming masks are lightweight and delicate, kind of like a cheaper version of the My Beauty Diary masks (produced by the same mother company). They still get the job done, though. You just have to be more careful in handling them because they’re more apt to tear.
You’ll definitely notice a very familiar scent to this mask… at least I did. I can’t totally put my finger on it, but I want to say it’s a lot like Clinique Happy. And let me just tell you, I HATE Clinique Happy. However, this mask is a bit more subtle, and so I can handle it. It’s not unpleasant, just… Clinique Happyish.
I also need to say how disappointed I was that this mask wasn’t black! Whenever I get a charcoal-based product, I expect black. Way to break my heart, My Scheming. At least I have some sort of hydrating black mask, also from My Scheming, that I have yet to use. At least I think it’s black. You never know anymore.
Am I ever going to find a mask that fits on my nose decently? My nose isn’t particularly large or weird-shaped. I don’t get it. Just cover the freaking tip once in awhile. And the sides. That’s all I ask. Come on.
So, aside from the unfortunate yet common fit, the rest of it works okay. It’s very relaxing and cooling to the touch. Leave it on for 15-20 (or 30-45 if you’re me) minutes and you’re set.
Does it work, you ask?
Well, my face definitely felt tighter afterward. Not dry, just… tighter. I can’t tell a difference in my pores though, they look the same. I only bought one of these, but I imagine continuous use of 2 or 3 times a week would amount to something good. Maybe.
Have you tried any of the My Scheming masks?
Pros: Relaxing, tightening, affordable.
Cons: Doesn’t cover my nose well, not black, Clinique Happy.
Final Verdict: I’m not so sure I’d purchase this one again, unless I heard positive reviews from continued use. I think I’ll keep trying a bunch of different ones out until I find something that sings to me. And doesn’t smell like Clinique Happy. If you want to try this mask out, or any other mask from the My Scheming line, you can check eBay where you can find them for cheap. I got 5 masks for $1-2 USD a piece with free shipping.
Also, congrats to the winner from my Leonie Giveaway: Robin! Thank you so much to everyone for participating, and keep an eye out for a giveaway I’m planning in a few months for my 1-year blogging anniversary!
